Elder Lee A. Brown, "Billy", age 78, of Macclesfield, NC, transitioned from labor to reward on November 15, 2020, at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital Tarboro, NC. Elder Lee Brown was the Pastor of Willow Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Old Sparta, NC. Funeral Service will be held at the Bethlehem Association Center with Elder Calvin Cherry officiating. OBITUARY: ELDER LEE ANDREW BROWN, "Billy", was born to the late James Arthur Brown and Annie Bruce Whitfield Brown on June 1, 1942 in Edgecombe County. BILLY grew up in Edgecombe County where he attended school. He gave his life to Christ in 1963 at Willow Chapel Primitive Baptist Church where he later became Pastor. He was a faithful and loving Pastor that always said “I don’t want to feed my flock no tainted bread”. Elder Brown was a God fearing, humble man, that loved his family, and was also a devoted husband, father and grandfather. BILLY worked at Burlington Sheffield Plant in Rocky Mount NC for twenty-nine years and retired in August of 2002. He loved to cook all types of greens for his family and anyone else that desired them! BILLY loved going to the Stock Yard every Wednesday and Friday, which was his second favorite place. As everyone knew, the church was his FAVORITE place to be! BILLY was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Margaret Thigpen Brown, daughter, Angela Denise Brown, father, James Arthur Brown, mother, Annie Bruce Whitfield Brown, four brothers, Willie Brown (Mookie), James Brown (Pete), Gene Brown, and Larry Raymond Brown, two sisters, Catherine Brown and Beulah Dowdy. ELDER BROWN leaves to cherish a legacy of love to his seven children, Luther Ray Thigpen of Pinetops, NC, Leroy Thigpen (Katina) of Rocky Mount, NC, Amanda Thigpen of Tarboro, NC, Milton Ray Brown (Vicky) of Pinetops, NC, Regina Brown Bush (William) of Pinetops NC, James Arthur Brown (Kathy) of Pinetops, NC, and Delois Brown-Alston (Ronnie) of Burlington, NC. and his oldest grandson that he raised Leroy Foreman Jr also known as Duke of Pinetops, NC; two brothers, George Brown of Rocky Mount, NC and Rayford Jimmie Brown (Belle) of Nashville, NC; five sisters, Gladys Speight of Rocky Mount, NC, Betty Cauthen (David) of Rocky Mount, NC, Bessie Yancey of Rocky Mount, NC, Brenda Taylor (Anthony) of Tamarac, Florida and Carol Poole (Harry) of Norfolk, VA; twenty four grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends. He also leaves to cherish his memories his adopted children, Eric Hixon, Tim Parker, Elder Calvin Cherry, Reverend JR Neal and Angela Cherry, best friends and brother-in-law Harry Dobson and Deacon Frank Penn.
