There will be a Grave Side Service for Ms. Vineylene Phillips on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Wayne Memorial Park North Cemetery on Old Grantham Road in Goldsboro, NC. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with Barnes Funeral Home LLC, Funeral and Cremation Services, 4120 S. Hathaway Blvd., Sharpsburg, NC. For Information, Call: (252) 246-0900. Send Condolences to our Email: [email protected] or Website: www.barnesfuneralhome.org "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future, there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me but also to all who have loved His appearing" (2 Timothy 4:7-8). Vineylene Hooks Phillips was born October 19, 1942, to the union of the late Bryant Hooks and the late Geneva Baker in Grifton, North Carolina. She was the oldest of two children. Vineylene transitioned from this earthly life on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Vineylene received her formal education in the Pitt County School System. She attended South Ayden High School. At an early age, Vineylene joined Shiloh Church of Christ in Grifton, North Carolina under the leadership of the Rev. Mark Chapman. She was later united in holy matrimony to the late Walter Phillips. In 1978, Vineylene moved to Newark, New Jersey. She was employed at the City Hall. Although Vineylene moved to the city, she didn't stop her love for her Sweet Society Snuff. Vineylene became a member of the Greater Abyssinian Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, and was a faithful member. She served on the Usher Board for many years. Vineylene made Newark, New Jersey her home until May of 2013 when she moved to Goldsboro, North Carolina. Vineylene Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, the late Bryant and Geneva Hooks; by her husband, the late Walter Phillips; by her friend and long-time companion, Ronald Battiste; and by one nephew, Douglas Donnell Williams. She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy two brothers Gene Hooks (her special and caring brother) of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Ronnie Hooks of Norfolk, Virginia; one sister, Ronnie Hooks of Columbia, South Carolina; Three nephews, Brandon Jacobs of Goldsboro, North Carolina; Michael Young and Rontrell Hooks both of Columbia, South Carolina; One niece, Sabrina Outlaw of Kinston, North Carolina; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, and cousins. One devoted friend and caregiver, Joyce Holloway (called her big sis!) of Goldsboro, North Carolina. Dear Family, Please be advised that I have moved. On Monday, January 31, 2022, at 10:00 pm, He let me know that my mission was complete and I could move in. He told me to go ahead and change my address. I viewed my new home and what a sight to behold. It is located on an exclusive estate behind a beautiful pearly gate. The streets are paved with gold and every day is Sunday. There are trees of fruit and many beautiful flowers in my garden. I can walk and talk with my Master without worry or care. P.S. I don't have a telephone, pager, email, organizer, or cell phone. But you can always call on God. If you don't know His number, read your Bible. His number is listed on every page. I have to go now because our Father is calling me. I am resting in peace. Love Always, Vineylene Phillips COVID-19 ADVISORY: Everyone is REQUIRED to wear face mask, practice social distancing, and wash your hands when attending the service event. ●LIVE STREAMING will be provided the day of service via Barnes Funeral Home facebook page.
